Hendrik Braakman was a driver who earned very little money, but he still welcomed the couple into the relative safety of his home. Hendrik and his family were driven solely by humanitarian motives. The Menkos stayed with the Braakmans until the end of the war. In the meantime, Albert and Maria Wesselius* were hiding their baby daughter.
