After a few days, her brother, the Reverend Leendert Overduin*, accompanied the child by train to Leeuwarden, Friesland, where Abraham was taken in by the Reverend Johannes Bijlsma and his wife, Johanna. Abraham enjoyed the safety of their home for six months, after which he was transferred to Anna and Pieter van der Meer* in Bolsward, Friesland. On July 10, 1973, Yad Vashem recognized Johannes Bijlsma and his wife, Johanna Pieternella Bijlsma-van der Linden, as Righteous Among the Nations |
