The entire Bakker family looked after the couple for over six months. When Coini was forced to leave another hiding place later on, he was welcomed into the home of one of the sons, Gerardus Bakker, and his wife, Wilhelmina, and stayed there until the liberation. On January 28, 1982, Yad Vashem recognized Gerardus Maria George Bakker and his wife, Wilhelmina Joanna Maria Bakker-Stommel, as Righteous Among the Nations. |
