Her main benefactors were the Roostees* and the Roepers*, who hid her, cared for her, and accepted her warmly into their families. Among the other families who sheltered Marianne during the war were the Bosvelds. Christiaan (Chris) Bosveld was a policeman during the war but nevertheless became involved in "illegal" activities including hiding Jews. Thus Chris and Herta also shared the responsibility of saving Marianne's life by keeping her in their home for a period of time. On May 11, 1980, Yad Vashem recognized Christiaan Frederik Bosveld and his wife, Herta Bosveld-Willemsen, as Righteous Among the Nations. |
