Mirjam relocated to relatives of the Olijs, Wijnand and Nel Braber. The Brabers were already hiding a Jewish couple, but they still treated their extra guest kindly. As opposed to the other couple in hiding in their home, Mirjam, who did not look especially Jewish, was allowed the freedom of wandering outside the confines of the house. From the Braber's home, Mirjam was transferred temporarily to Anne Olij's brother, Maarten Verbeek*. Later on, she returned to the Brabers, where she remained until it was safe enough for her to return to her original shelter at the Olijs. After the war, Mirjam remained in contact with the Olij, Verbeek, and Braber families. On May 3, 1989, Yad Vashem recognized Wijnand Braber and his wife, Nel Braber, as Righteous Among the Nations.
